I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor with over ten years of experience. I work with individuals facing all kinds of life challenges — anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, identity and self-worth struggles, relationship concerns, or just feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to go next. I also support individuals working through career-related stress, burnout, or big life transitions. Whether you're at a personal or professional crossroads, I’m here to help you sort through the noise and move forward with clarity.
My name is Janet O’Hare. In my psychotherapy practice, I work with people of all ages and many backgrounds, with all kinds of goals and concerns. These often include:
· Addressing worries and stresses
· Navigating knotty problems in life
· Working on relationships
· Welcoming a new child into the family
· Dealing with a serious illness
· Handling a major career challenge
· Managing trauma-related issues
I am especially interested in the zone where the waves of the soul crash on the rocks of the body. I have a great deal of experience with trauma of many types, in many degrees of severity. I have also worked extensively with, and have a special love for, new families, mothers and childbearing. I am honored to be present at the end of life. I am a psychodynamic feminist and am deeply interested in history and in political and moral movements.
As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, I am a firm believer in the importance of taking care of your mental health. I have worked with individuals, families, and groups of all ages, supporting clients through concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, identity exploration, and life transitions.
Therapy is a shared experience to explore past and present aspects of your life to help you grow and thrive, becoming the best version of yourself. I value building a safe meaningful connection to allow that work to be done.
I have years of experience working in non-profit with clients from all walks of life.
Taking the first step and attending the initial session can be scary. Understanding this feeling, I provide my clients with warmth, empathy and a safe place to share. I have been working in this field for over 20 years and hold a doctorate in psychology and a Masters in Social Work and psychology. I work with most aged groups and treat depression, bipolar, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, PTSD, substance abuse, bereavement issues, work/school related stress and relationship/family issues. We will work together to meet your goals.
Nice to meet you 😊
We all go through ups and downs and sometimes we need assistance to push through!
I am a proud 2020 graduate of Lehman College school of Social Work. I obtained my LMSW in 2021 and have been providing therapy to all ages from 5-65+. Focusing primarily on teens and young adults, I have refined my practice in treating anxiety, stress, depression and relationship issues. With experience in a school setting, court involved individuals and outpatient clinics, I can provide unique expertise in treatment. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and you can’t reach your full potential if you are not taking care of both.
