I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I have my master's in Counseling and Community Psychology. I completed my internship at a college counseling center. I have had previous work experience supporting my clients in meeting their rehabilitative goals, overcoming their barriers, and working with co-occurring substance use disorders. My most recent experienced working in an outpatient clinic has given me even further experience in working with different populations of individuals.
Are you feeling overwhelmed and find yourself having difficulty focusing on completing daily tasks? Are the people closest to you concerned about your ability to maintain and stay afloat? Have you found that once you finally get a chance to relax, you are left with exhaustion and racing thoughts with increased worry?
Hi, I’m Julia, and I’m passionate about helping people find strength, clarity, and balance in their lives. I’ve been working in the field for over twenty years, with experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, seniors, and parents through life’s many transitions. I’m a graduate of Columbia University, where I focused on working with children and families. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside clients from many different backgrounds as they work through both everyday stress and life’s biggest challenges.
I believe the structure of the therapeutic relationship can help people access their inner strengths and promote meaningful change. Therapy gives us space to pause, reflect, and make sense of how the different parts of our lives — our relationships, health, identity, and environment — impact our well-being. Together, we’ll sort through challenges, set realistic goals, and develop strategies that help you feel more grounded and empowered.
In my twenties, I studied philosophy and English literature. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years in magazine journalism.
I worked for 6 years in hospice care, first as an interfaith chaplain and then as a bereavement counselor.
I enjoy nature and the arts: music, poetry and painting. I practice Tibetan Buddhism.
I've been married for 30 years and have two adult daughters.
I incorporate emerging evidence-based treatments that support neuro-plasticity and expanded awareness.
