Hi, I’m Amaris, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes healing happens best in a space where you feel safe, understood, and never judged.
I work with children, teens, adults, and older adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional overwhelm, grief, and major life transitions. Whether your child is having big feelings they don’t know how to manage, you’re feeling stuck in patterns that don’t serve you, or your family is walking through the heartbreak of dementia or loss, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
My style is supportive, down-to-earth, and collaborative. Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” you, it’s about helping you understand yourself, build practical tools, and feel more confident handling life’s challenges. I blend evidence-based approaches with compassion, creativity, and sometimes even humor, because growth doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time.
Parents appreciate that I help kids build emotional regulation skills in ways that make sense to them, and I make sure caregivers feel supported too. Adults often come to me when anxiety, emotional ups and downs, or grief feel overwhelming. I also have a special place in my heart for working with older adults and families facing Alzheimer’s, dementia, and end-of-life changes.
At the core of my work is this belief:
You are not broken, you’re human, and you’re capable of growth.
If you’re ready for a space where you can show up exactly as you are, we’ll work at your pace, together.
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from University of Southern California and have been working in outpatient and community mental health settings for the last 10 years. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults, but I am now focusing on adults with symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Hello! It takes courage to reach out for help and I am so glad you are here. I am passionate about supporting women, parents, children and families. I have worked at several outpatient clinics and schools in the past and I will guide you with compassion, no matter what season of life you may be in.
Welcome. I'm a licensed psychotherapist dedicated to supporting people who are going through a tough life transition, whether it’s a diagnosis, relationship loss, other loss, or it’s you who have changed. You may be stressed, burnt out, depressed, anxious, and/or traumatized by what you are going through and carrying. You don’t have to do this alone. You can find your spark again. I have specialized training in somatic psychotherapy and evidence-based mindfulness therapies. As a person living with T1D, I love working with others in the diabetes community, and I understand the mental load and energy it takes, every single day.
Dr. Iyican completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Houston, where her graduate research focused on interventions for distressed couples as well as risk factors and treatment for intimate partner violence. In addition to studying and working clinically with couples, she received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for individuals dealing with anxiety, trauma, stress, and depression.
After finishing her doctorate, Dr. Iyican completed an APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship at the UC San Diego/VA San Diego Healthcare System residency program. As a fellow at the VA’s Family Mental Health Program, she provided Veterans and their partners with couple and individual therapy. This fellowship provided further intensive training in evidence-based psychotherapies, including Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy for PTSD, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD.
In addition to providing psychotherapy services to couples and individuals through the Couples Wellness Center, Dr. Iyican previously worked as a staff psychologist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and as an Assistant Health Sciences Clinical Professor at UC San Diego. She has co-authored publications and professional presentations focused on the topics of couple therapy and intimate partner violence.
Dr. Iyican is certified in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, has completed advanced Level 3 Gottman Method Couple Therapy Training and the Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Externship.
Dr. Iyican is also a mother of two and brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work with new parents. Her personal journey sparked a deep interest in perinatal mental health and inspired her to pursue advanced training (PMH-C) in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Growing up in Los Angeles most of my life therapy, social work, and mental health were taboo subjects. Similarly, within my Mexican culture being a Male I was expected to be strong and persevere through the trauma. However, the world doesn’t make it easy for today’s youth to succeed. But if I can do it, so can you! As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I aim to reinforce your youth’s resilience to face their anxiety, depression, process their traumas, and more to help reach their goals.
I highlight your strengths in our sessions. Just think of me as your emotional cheerleader. I want the best for you, whatever that may be.
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck or needing to focus? I enjoy partnering with my clients on their journeys to improved wellness. In our time together, we will celebrate your strengths and develop goals to maximize your wellness, together. While we can't change our past, we can work together to process our story’s strengths and struggles. We can talk through your current challenges and quiet the noise around you. We can explore the barriers that may get in the way of enjoying life to the fullest. We can identify ways to find joy again. I look forward to meeting with you to plan how to achieve your goals.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been in practice for over ten years. I help Gen Zers and Millennials to manage the overwhelming anxiety and stress that the fast-paced world of today causes. Whether the ever-evolving world is making it difficult for you to navigate the challenges of anxiety, depression, parenthood, work pressures, romantic partnerships, emotional trauma, or interpersonal relationships, I am prepared to aid in rebuilding your confidence and developing a powerful toolkit for combatting mental health blocks.
As a proud Mexican woman, it’s important to me to provide a space for marginalized groups to feel understood and validated. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and deeply passionate about supporting the queer community with compassion and empathy. I am also sex-positive and have helped many of my clients overcome barriers and concerns regarding sex and physical intimacy.
I graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with a Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy in 2016. I began seeing clients in 2014, and in the years since, I have worked in substance abuse programs, behavioral health hospitals, intensive outpatient programs, and numerous group practices. Today, I enjoy managing my own practice and seeing my clients thrive as they tackle treatment goals. I am located in Los Angeles and am exclusively offering virtual therapy at this time, making it convenient for you to meet for your sessions in the comfort of your chosen space.
I've worked for 8 years helping people get in touch with what they want. I've primarily worked with individuals navigating difficult life and interpersonal transitions, supporting professionals who are navigating career changes, and folks embarking on post-graduate educational pursuits.
